Welcome to our 20th SEASON! It is an exciting time to be involved with the Chorus, and I am honored to be your Artistic Director for what promises to be a busy year of spectacular singing.

We begin our season on November 14 in collaboration with the Mississippi Opera and the Jackson Choral Society to present THE BEST OF OPERA CHORUSES. This performance will take place at the Belhaven College Center for Performing Arts.

In December, we will return to the masterpiece that our organization performed on its first concert in 1989: Handel's MESSIAH. Our performance on December 5 at Galloway UMC will include alumni of the Chorus who will reunite with us to mark this special occasion. The next day, we will take the show on the road -- to the Bologna Performing Arts Center on the campus of Delta State University -- for a performance with the DSU Chorale.

We will kick off 2010 with three collaborations with the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra. On January 9, the Chamber Choir will be featured on the MSO's Mozart by Candlelight series, presenting REGINA COELI under the direction of Maestro Crafton Beck. Two weeks later, the full Chorus will sing the rousing conclusion of Tchaikovsky's 1812 OVERTURE. On March 27, we will again join with the MSO, along with choirs from Millsaps College and Mississippi College, to perform Gustav Mahler's monumental SECOND ("RESURRECTION") SYMPHONY.

Our busy season will close with a bang, literally, as the New York-based professional percussion ensemble Ethos comes to Jackson. They will present workshops and master classes around the area, and will collaborate with us on our final concert: COLERE: Exploring Culture through Rhythm. The concert will feature "Missa Luba" by Guido Haazen and "African Sanctus" by David Fanshawe, two unique multicultural works which highlight the interplay of diverse cultural reflections on our journey through life.

This will be an exciting and busy year. You will not want to miss a moment!
